Class Descriptions

L1 M/SE       Level 1 Mat/Small Equipment
This beginner class will teach you all about the Pilates technique using exercises drawn from the Mat syllabus and integrate the use of small equipment such as foam rollers, toning balls, fitness rings, resistance bands and so on. Some yoga stretches are incorporated into the workout.

L2 M/S         Level 2 Mat/Small Equipment
This class is for those with Pilates experience who work out at the intermediate or advanced levels. It is a continuation of Level 1 integrating exercises from the Mat syllabus as well as small equipment. This level integrates more yoga stretches into the workout.

L1 LE           Level 1 Large Equipment
This is a small group class (3-4 participants max) conducted on the large Pilates equipment including the reformer, the rack and the chair. The Pilates technique learned in the matwork classes are easily transferred as we now load the muscles using resistance training to further develop strength and flexibility.

L2 LE           Level 2 Large Equipment
This class is a continuation of Level 1, challenging participants in a wide variety of movements with resistance training. Participants continue to use the large equipment including the reformer, the rack and the chair. The core trunk muscles continue to strengthen and the arms and legs strength and definition increase considerably.

Walking Pilates
This group class combines 30 minutes of gentle walking aerobics with simple movements that are easy to follow, followed by 30 minutes of matwork, yoga and/or small equipment exercises. This is a great way to incorporate a cardio component to your Pilates practice!

Cardio Ball
This group class combines 30 minutes of cardio exercises on the ball, followed by 30 minutes Pilates-on-the-Ball exercises. Not only is this class a fantastic way to add some cardio to your Pilates workout, but provides the phenomenal benefits associated to ball work such as core balance and strength.

Cardio Dance
This class is for those who love to move to music while getting their cardiovascular workout. It begins with a gentle warmup followed by learning dance movements grounded extracted from the African dance tradition that are slowly weaved together into choreography throughout the hour. The Pilates technique is applied throughout the entire class thereby integrating ab work into the dance routine.
